The history of 10/10 -- Warning, Long post.

October 10th has been a very memorable one in my lifetime.

Seven years ago on 10/10/00 -- Tuck and I started dating.

We had been friends for about six months and over the summer had gotten to really know one another and like each other too. All our friends knew it, but we were too afraid to admit it to one another. When school resumed in September, it was a little awkward seeing him at first. On October 9th, a bunch of my friends and Tuck went for a fall walk (we did this a lot). It was a nice time and I noticed that Tuck and one of my friends were trailing behind a little and talking quietly. We thought nothing of it. When he dropped us off at our dorm, he pulled me aside and said, "Would you like to go for a walk?" I thought this was very funny since we had just taken a long one, but I said sure. It had since turned midnight (10/10) and on our walk Tuck started telling me that he had feelings for someone. He said that he was nervous about taking the next step with this person because she was a good friend. When I asked who it was (thinking it was me), he said, "Heather." I was shocked and then he said, "Just kidding!" The rest I guess is history.

Five years ago on 10/10/2002 -- Tuck and I got engaged.

My friends and I went out for a Chi-Chi's happy hour on a Thursday evening. Margaritas and Nachos, what more could you ask for. It was my two year anniversary with Tuck and I wasn't going to be seeing him until Friday. When we got back to our apartment, my friends told me to run upstairs and put in a tape to tape FRIENDS, then we were going to go to another friends house to watch the shows. I got upstairs and I immediately knew that something was going on. On the floor was a note, some Dove promise chocolates and a rose. I turned down the hall and there were three more. I went in my room, expecting to see Tuck, but he wasn't there. Instead I saw votive candles in the shape of a heart on the floor, a teddy bear, and there was soft music playing. Nervously, I said, "Tuck?" He came out of my roommates room holding another rose and had tears in his eyes. I sat down on my bed and he got down on one knee. He said the sweetest words to me and proposed while opening the ring box. I said yes without even looking at the ring and gave him a hug. I was so happy. Just then, I realized that I hadn't taped FRIENDS that I screamed that I had to do it. Way to ruin a magical moment, I know, but it makes for a funny ending. It was a great night!

Yesterday on 10/10/2007 -- My baby girl was two months old and we bought a MINI-VAN!

Yesterday, my sweet baby girl was two months old. I can't believe that the time has gone by so fast. She is no longer a tiny little thing that is too small for her newborn onesies. She smiles, is starting to coo, and has outgrown a lot of her pajamas and outfits already. And now I know why. Two months ago, she came into the world at 7 pounds 12 ounces and 20 inches long. Today, she had her checkup and she was a perfect 12 pounds 3 ounces and 23.5 inches long. People, that is 4.5 pounds and 3.5 inches in two months! That is crazy. No wonder she is sleeping so much, she is growing like a rock star! She has been nothing but sweet and amazing these last two months. She goes to bed at 9 and only wakes up once at night for a quick feeding between 3:30 and 5:00 am. We all love her to pieces and love to hold, kiss and play with her.

We also bought our first mini-van last night. I think that we just aged ten years, but it is worth it. We got a 2007 Chevy Uplander and we love it. It was so much space and drives great. We can't wait to take it to Tuck's hometown for the 3+ hour drive soon. The little guy likes his new van and we definitely feel like the all-American family now. This is a picture from the web, ours is a dark metallic blue.

So, there you have it. The history of October 10th for us. I wonder if anything big will take place on it in the future. What about you readers, do you have a special date?

Sorry Trisha, I don't have any special dates (at least not that I can remember!) Your OCtober 10th date sounds too good to be true. Congrats on the mini van--they are wonderful!!
