Big News

Sunday marked the end of an era in our house.
We cut the nukie (pacifier). We did it way before nap time and gave it to the little guy, who will be 2 1/2 in 8 days. His reaction?
"It's not working!" "I want a different one." Then we started to lie to him, I know, I am a horrible mother. "Honey, this is the only one we have, all the other ones are gone." (There are three more on Tuck's dresser, in case if the end of the world was to come.)
"Daddy broke it." Then he put it in his mouth for 3 seconds, it slipped out and he handed it over to us.
We ran errands, he got to chew gum because big boys chew gum you know, and he didn't once ask for his broken nukie.
When it came to nap time, he went down fine with his blanket and held on to his cut nuk in his hand. He then fell asleep with it on his pillow.
Can I just say that this has been such an easy transition? He slept wonderfully last night, through the night without one whimper. The first night he woke up a couple of times but that was due to an on-coming cold, not the nukie situation.
So, yeah for us, no more nukie! Although I did enjoy most of the experience, it made him stay younger looking, now he is such a big boy!
