Weekend Exhaustion
Aren't weekends just exhausting? Or maybe it is the little guy that I chase around all weekend that tires me out. Well another summer weekend come and gone and here we are a third of the way through July. Man, time is flying.
This weekend welcomed beautiful weather, some would say a wee bit too hot (ok, that's me) and some good family fun. Tuck started the weekend with a softball tournament on Friday night. Since it was a late game, B stayed home and slept while grandma watched him and I had the pleasure of attending the game by myself and was actually able to watch it. Usually I spend the whole game chasing B, getting him something to eat, or prohibiting him from running out onto the field. The boy just can't sit still. So Friday evening was nice -- just sitting back eating popcorn, watching my hubby play ball. Kinda felt like old times.
Saturday, the softball fun continued with five games in a row. Since they kept winning, they kept playing. Tuck's mom and step-dad came up to watch him play, visit with B and check out the progress on the house. That was a nice visit. B and I were at the ball park all day and he behaved quite well. Needless to say, Tuck and I were exhausted after the tourney was over. Tuck played great, but they took second. B never seemed to tire and enjoyed playing in the sand box close to the diamond and dumping sand down my shorts!
Saturday night, our small town America had it's Fourth of July celebration. We walked to the fireworks and were so excited to sit and enjoy the beauty. B was already bathed and in his pj's and we thought he would snuggle into our laps and enjoy his second fireworks show. However, after about five minutes of snuggling, he decided that people watching was much more exciting and he turned around and looked at everyone seated around us.
Sunday, we went to a church picnic with my mom and grandma in an even smaller town where my grandma used to live. We enjoyed some great food and played a couple games of bingo. B played some little games and won some sunglasses that make him look like a young Elton John. Since it was blazing hot, we left early and went home to watch B play in the kiddie pool. Tuck and I decided that we were too hot to watch someone play with water, so we packed up and went to a state park and swam for an hour. That was the best thing we did all weekend. B loved the water and even let go of the death-grip that he had on me to start kicking and splashing around. Then we headed to the beach for a snack and to dry off.
We had a great time hanging out as a family. This mom stuff definitely has its perks, like snuggling with a little guy after bath time and making him giggle as you chase him around the house. But man it can be exhausting! Hope everyone else had a great weekend too.

I find that weekends are exhausting too. For one, there is no routine like the weekdays and Daddy is home so there is a lot more excitement about. Summertime is filled with so many events and things to do, it goes by soooo quickly!
Wow Trisha you are a real Mom and have a real family, it all sounds so wonderful. What are you doing this weekend?
Anne - I know it is hard to believe that I am a real mom, considering you have yet to meet the little guy and he is almost a year and a half old. Hopefully soon enough!
Seriously, what are you doing this weekend?
Anne - we are going to a local festival on Saturday night, Tuck has VIP tickets (drinks, food, fireworks). But that is it. Tuck works Saturday morning and Sunday afternoon then departs for a week long training. Let's talk tonight.
