My Dear Dad

Today is my dad's birthday.
He turns 59.
He looks like he is 69 thanks to dementia.

Some of my favorite things about him:
- His gum drop smile.
- The way his eyes had an actual twinkle in them when he laughed.
- His broken, crooked nose.
- His work ethic.
- He was one of the greatest teachers ever.
- He loved my mom more than anything.
- He couldn't wait for grandkids.
- His ability to try new things.
- The way he called me Trishy.
- He inspired me to be a teacher.
- He taught me what a good parent should look like.

I love him, miss him dearly and truly wish I could go back nine years and tell him everything I can't now.
