Home Sweet Home

So, I may or may not have mentioned that we are currently building a house. Here is the story. Three years ago, before we were married, Tuck moved into our first home together (a two-bedroom apartment). We loved it, but we wanted something that was ours, so we started to look at buying a house. The day we found one that we really liked and put an offer on the house, we found out that we were prego with B-man. So here we are, only seven months into our marriage, buying a house and pregnant. Yikes. But we were happy.

We moved into that house over two years ago. It was an old two-story with great built-ins and crown molding. Just lovely. But the bathroom was tiny, and the third bedroom was super small. We always were traveling to the town where I grew up and my mom lives (since she watched B-man during the day) and were never really enjoying the town we lived in. So, we started to look at houses again. Couldn't find anything that was worth moving. Then we started to think about building. Oh wouldn't that be nice to have what we really want in a house instead of sacrificing? So we found a lot, on a quiet street, with trees and a hill in the backyard. It is about two blocks from an elementary school and the city park.

We sold our house on our own, only had to have one open house. I do miss it. We moved into my mom's house (the house I grew up in) and took over my old bedroom. The little guy is in my brother's room and we are one big happy, three-generation family in one house. Plus two small dogs. Yup, that's right, I am living with my mom. We are helping her out, giving her company now that dad is in the nursing home and she is definitely helping us out.

We started building June 1st. They gauranteed six months, but always shoot for five for completion. We are just hoping to be in by Thanksgiving. Currently, the house is framed, roofed, windows are in and they are starting to go the siding and electrical. We have started to look at appliances and lighting fixtures. But honestly, I am sick of making decisions. It gets complicated not just figuring out what you want, but where to buy it and so on.

The little guy loves running around the house, through the walls and looking out the large windows. We are looking forward to having something to call ours again and making it a home for our family. It is a lot of work and worry, but I think it will be worth it. Only a couple more months until home, sweet home. Pictures coming soon.

I would like to correct you hon. We aren't hoping to be in by Thanksgivng, you are. Tuck would love to be in sometime in October and the latest as the 1st of November. Don't crush my dreams of moving in early and back on our own.
